Eclipse plug-in trouble

Postby rigelstar » Fri Jan 21, 2011 7:34 pm

When installing the RCX plugin for eclipse I get the following error on both computers that I have tried:

Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.
Software being installed: leJOS Development Tools 1.2.0 (org.lejos.ldt.feature.group 1.2.0)
Missing requirement: leJOS Development Tools 1.2.0 (org.lejos.ldt.feature.group 1.2.0) requires 'org.lejos [2.1.0]' but it could not be found

Anyone have a similar problem?

I'm at work right now and don't have access to my RCX Eclipse notes, but I was able to install the RCX plugin and am able to flash the firmware to an RCX from Eclipse.

IIRC, the installation needed a lot of tweaking as if the plugin was written for an earlier version. But it does eventually work. I can write leJOS programs in Eclipse and download them to an RCX.

I'll see if I can find my notes this weekend and let you know what I find.

Thanks for the effort. Will be helpful for the whole community if you could post your notes.

Thanks

Hi rigelstar,

Sorry for the delay. I crashed my mountain bike on Saturday and had to work at my job most of the day on Sunday, so my "free time" disappeared over the weekend.

I kept notes for myself as I configured Eclipse for RCX use, and have not had time to go back and rewrite them to be clear start-to-finish instructions. I just wanted to save my experience for future reference for myself, and am more than willing to share them with others who understand that perspective.

The notes are in one of the more modern Microsoft Word ".docx" formats. You can download them from here. When I tested downloading them in my Windows environment, Windows examined the file and concluded that it was a ZIP format because of how the ".docx" file is organized. I was able to save it and rename it from ".zip" to ".docx" and open it.

If I get time this week I will attempt to create a version that everyone can read directly from this forum. I think it is relatively easy to extract the image files from the Word document and link to them from a forum post.

Let me know if any of this is useful. A Wiki environment might be better suited for tweaking the material, but we have to work with what we have.
