A java program on the laptop reads a file with the cardeal. This deal is converted to an array[52] and sent to the NXT via USB (thanx Lawrie). The playing cards have unique self painted color-codes. The NXT drops the cards in cardholder 1(North), 2(E), 3(S) or 4(W).
The input of the javaprogram can be a .pbn file or a .xml file. The .pbn file is the portable bridge notation. I think in the future this .pbn notation wil be replaced by the .xml notation.
