Unable to install 0.9.1 without access to "MyDocuments"

Postby DavidGauntt » Sat Nov 03, 2012 2:24 am

I am trying to install leJOS 0.9.1 on a Windows XP laptop, and have run into an error message "Failed to expand shell folder constant "userdocs"". The "My Documents" folder has been mapped to a folder on a server which I can not reach.

This is a school computer, and it can't reach the server because I have the computer at home tonight. I should be able to install leJOS at the school, but I am puzzled as to why it needs to access "My Documents" to install the software. Will I be able to access leJOS from accounts other than the one from which I installed it? Also, is there any way around the installation issue without accessing the server?

Don't try to install "Samples and Example projects" and "Sources of leJOS Development Kit". Does the error go away?
Those two items are not checked by default, and you can download them from our download page separately.

Also, you should be able to chose alternative destination locations for the two items above, which usually go to userdocs. Well, unless the installer just crashed. In which case, I need to adjust the programming of the installer. Can you tell me EXACTLY what happens? I.e. when the installer stop/crashes? It might be useful to provide the log create by the installer. Create one by using the /LOG=filename parameter of the installer.

In the mean time, you can experiment with the manual installation. It's described in our tutorial.
But I would definitely like to resolve the installer issue.
