Connecting my NXT; NXJ doesn't see it!

Hi,

I have a problem programming my NXT. I get the following message when running nxjflash:

C:\WINDOWS>nxjflash
NXJ_HOME is c:\lejos\beta_0.4\lejos_nxj
Setting fmcn to 50
Checking VM c:\lejos\beta_0.4\lejos_nxj/bin/lejos_nxt_rom.bin ... VM OK.
Checking Menu c:\lejos\beta_0.4\lejos_nxj/bin/StartUpText.bin ... Menu OK.
NXT not found. Is it properly plugged in via USB?

When I go into Device Manager the NXT is there, recorded as being in firmware update mode. It is ticking away quietly and is connected. If I unplug it it goes from the list and if I plug it back in it re-appears

I am running XP pro on an HP nx6325.

Could someone please give me a (broad) hint?
