Lejos on Ubuntu

Okay so i'm very new to this, could someone lay out what i have to do to get programming?

I went to some linux forms place and followed their instructions to get sun's JDK 6

and then i downloaded eclipse from the add applications tab

so now what do i have to do with lejos and does it matter the version i use? im so lost and i just want to be able to program the dang brick.

Can anyone help me at all, or at least give me some advice, Please and thank you so much
