motor speed and power

Postby socrates » Sat Nov 10, 2007 10:20 pm

What's the difference between the motor speed and power? Why isn't the latter available in the icommand API?

Regards,
Rupert

Hi Rupert,
Speed is in degrees per second. About the most you can hope for about 900 with a fully charged battery. Power is an arbitrary number, not proportional to speed. Power settings of less than 40 usually won't make the motor move.
I don't know why Brian did not put it the icommand API; Perhaps because is is not all that useful.

Hi Socrates,

Speed required a thread to constantly adjust the power level actively. With iCommand the commands are going through Bluetooth so it makes it too slow to attempt this kind of precision control.
