This is where you talk about the NXJ software itself, installation issues, and programming talk.

The plugin trilogy:Netbeans, BlueJ and Eclipse

Postby bowser » Tue Nov 13, 2007 9:28 pm

I now have working versions of plugins for Netbeans, BlueJ and Eclipse. Each requires lejos nxj to be set up. Once installed the plugins add menu items which allow the code you are writing to be compiled and run (by transferring to the NXT)

Hi Bowser,

Is it possible to include leJOS NXJ with the plugin? That would make installation a lot easier for people, since I assume the environment variables could be automatically set.

BTW We're currently figuring out how to package/integrate an Eclipse plugin with leJOS NXJ.

Include LeJOS with the Eclipse plugin

It is possible, but the problem is with Linux machines where LeJOS has to be re-built after downloading. This may also require additional modules e.g. libusb to be installed (potentially as root?).

The most stable way of producing a LeJOS distribution has been to create a Linux virtual machine using VMWare, this works ok on most machines (although have not tried it on a Mac). Even managed to get LeJOS on a memory stick using BlueJ which worked on Vista with a bluetooth dongle and no setup.
