Project suggestion: Collaborating/competing bots

I am teaching my leJOS class to middle schoolers again this year. We are looking for ideas for a project.

Last year the kids built a simple line-follower in about 3 hours using test-driven development in Eclipse with JUnit. I think we can expect to have no more than ten programming hours this time.

Since we have two kits, I thought it might be fun to build two bots that compete or cooperate. They can communicate using bluetooth, either with each other or a central computer.

Can you suggest a project that fits these criteria?
