Can a NXTCam that connected to NXT brick capture images?

May I know the NXTCam can capture images by connecting to NXT brick instead of using USB cable?
i'm using Eclipse as java platform and lejos NXT API.

The standard NXTCam can not do this. If you have an NXTCam V3 and you are prepared to replace the firmware on the device and you are prepared to use different firmware for the i2c side of the NXTCam (which means the normal functionality of the device is not available using the same APIs, then yes you can.
