I have a robot that plays checkers thats being upgraded to the NXT platform. There are two rotation sensors and RCX motors in the things belly i would prefer to keep as they are really a pain to replace.
As i was looking though the API i noticed that the rotation sensors were not yet implemented. I started looking into how the rotation sensors work and i can see the voltage changes by reading the raw value from the sensor port on the NXT. I can reliably tell which direction its turning by reading the raw value. Before i start writing a class for the rotation sensors is reading the raw value the best way to do this or is there a better way to go about doing this. Or has work already been done for the rotation sensor?
