NXT PC emulator?

Postby Rickz2020 » Wed Jun 29, 2011 12:42 am

Hey all,

Is there an emulator for the NXT brick for use with a PC? I want to do simulations on my PC rather than having to upload to the NXT brick every time.

Thanks,

Rich.

There is currently no emulator available (though i think that one of our users is working on one). However most of the api can be used remotely so you can run your code on thepc, but you will still need an nxt for the motors and sensors. What sort of program are you trying to write? Does it use any of the nxt hardware?

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the reply. I'm writing a GPS navigation system as I am building a robot to navigate using only GPS decimal co-ordinates to navigate. The robot has motor and sensors so I guess I'll have to keep doing it the long way :)

Great news to hear someone is working on an emulator though! It would be awesome to have the ability to simulate our robots in a virtual world!

I am sorry but I could not fully understand your comment as I am new to leJOS. Do you mean we can see the output of most api on pc without having the need for the actual hardware? Thanks

Ambi.

Ambi, I believe Andy is referring to the PC-side of LeJOS that allows remote control of the NXT brick.
Please see http://lejos.sourceforge.net/nxt/pc/api/index.html.
You still need a NXT brick to use this.
