Omni Wheels

Postby bbagnall » Thu Aug 25, 2011 4:21 pm

If anyone is interested in building an Omni Wheeled robot, there are some available just for Lego from Nexus Robotics:

They cost $15 US per wheel, and the shipping times were pretty quick from China.

I'm not seeing any prices on that website. The cart lists everything as $0.00. Apparently, I only get charged for shipping. Which seems to be a constant $33.60, however many items I intend to buy

Is that correct? Are you seeing something different?

It does the same for me (and also did so back in August when I first checked it). I did consider ordering 100 omniwheels, selling them for $10 apiece, and making a huge profit...

I encountered the same problem with the website ordering form and let them know but I guess they haven't updated it yet. If this puts you off, you can get similar wheels at an Australian site (though I haven't tested them yet):

These type of wheels are really cool to play around with.

Wow they have some nice kits.

Will they all work with the NXT? I ask because I encountered problems with typical motors as they do not have an encoder.

This is the kit I am interested in: http://www.nexusrobot.com/product.php?id_product=86

I wonder if it is controllable via NXT and MMX.

These wheels do not have motors on them. Make sure to only get the wheels that are specifically made for Lego NXT. The wheels fit on a standard Lego Technic axle.
