Problem: Flashing original FW after leJOS.

Hello,
I have a problem now after trying to go back from LeJOS to original LEGO Firmware.
I was on batteries while doing the operation and when i started updating the FW the screen got black and the update process hanged.
Now i have a brick, with a blank screen when i put batteries in and a tick sound. I have been searching on other forums and i've seen people with the same problem so i thought this could be useful to someone else.
I have tried the different tricks that i found like resetting the brick holding the button on the back of the brick for 4-5 seconds and more but the brick is just no longer found by either by nxj bins nor the Mindstorm program that came with the box.
I am using Mac OS X Lion.

Any hints, ideas or solutions are welcome!

Have you been able to use this same computer with the Legp software before? Have you changed anything on your Mac recently? What sort of Mac is it? Have you tried different USB ports on your Mac. Make sure you connect the NXT directly not via a hub. What computer did you use to install the leJOS firmware?


Make sure you have fresh batteries in the NXT. Make sure you have the latest drivers from Lego installed on your system.If the brick is ticking then it is in firmware update mode and should be detected by the computer. If this still does not work then try and get hold of another computer running Windows and see if that detects the NXT. If possible try a different USB cable.If none of this works then I would recommend that you contact Lego support....

Hi Andy,
Yes i have done everything from the same comp, i only upgraded the Mac OS to Lion in between. But i used the same comp for uploading leJOS and before that to upload programs from the original Mindstorm program, directly connected to USB no hub only have 2 USB ports. Did not try different USB ports as i am certain both work.
For everything around the NXT i used a MacBook.

Yes after some reading i found that the brick is not totally dead as i thought at first.

Will try on windows.
I thought there could be some kind of miracle done with this brick!

Hi,
Amazing i installed the latest drivers and tried another USB port then i could update the original firmware with ./nxjflash -b <Path to Firmware> .
