USB Driver Problem on Linux

Postby lukas24 » Mon Sep 10, 2012 2:19 pm

Hi - I'm running version 0.7.0 of NXJ on Kubuntu Linux. I'm having a problem using the PC Comm components to get my computer to talk to my NXT over USB. I'm getting the following error:

lejos.pc.comm.NXTCommException: Cannot load USB driver
at lejos.pc.comm.NXTCommFactory.createNXTComm(NXTCommFactory.java:62)

I get a similar error when running the USBSend test program that ships with the source code. The NXJ utility programs work just fine talking to the NXT over USB.

Any thoughts on what the problem could be? Googling has revealed nothing at this point.

Thanks!

Lukas

Do you really mean leJOS 0.7.0? That version of leJOS is very very old... Is there a reason why you are not using the most recent version?

Yes, the native library cannot be loaded, because environment variables like LD_LIBRARY_PATH or Java system properties like java.library.path are not properly set.
In newer versions of leJOS, the mechanism for loading the variables are much less painful than in old versions (like 0.7.0).
