Which Bluetooth USB dongle

Hello,

I want to communicate between my PC and NXT brick using Bluetooth. As far I undertand it, I must get a bluetooth device that runs the widcomm stack to be able to use bluecove on Windows.

I have found a this dongle http://www.dlink.com.sg/products/dlhome ... c=&pid=386. Driver is from widcomm. However it is a BT 1.2 device and Brian Bagnall's book states that it has to be BT 2.0 or higher.

Do you think that this device will do the job?

I use the MSI Star Key 2.0 and it works great on Window XP and Vista.

Hi,
There are also three classes of Bluetooth dongle (called rather imaginatively class 1, 2 and 3!). They all have different powers and ranges, class 1 devices have the longest range, class 2 devices are the most common (the nxt is class 2). Using a class 1 device with a class 2 device will also often extend the range of the class 2 device (the class 1 devices tend to have a more sensitive receiver and better noise rejection). The class 1 devices tend to cost a little more. I've found that the belkin dongles work pretty well on both Vista and XP. I use the longer range F8T012-1 version. This device uses the Broadcom/Widdcom Bluetooth stack and you may need to get an updated driver from here http://www.broadcom.com/products/bluetooth_update.php
