usb not found

This is where you talk about the NXJ software itself, installation issues, and programming talk.

usb not found

Postby Dixon » Thu May 24, 2007 2:40 pm

Trying to run latest version of lejos on nxt.
Installed usblib win32 ver0.1.12.
Typing >C:\lejosdl Tune.bin in command window gives "NXT not found.
Is it properly plugged in via USB?"

Any ideas on what I missed doing?

the nxt responds fine to the lego software. I can re-load the firmware okay.
when i reset the nxt (hold for more than 4 seconds) it starts to click (but barely audible). after failing to get the usb working, i can run the lego software and reload the nxt firmware without any problems.
When I run the usblib test I get a screen of information with exit and retest at the bottom - don't really understand the information on the screen - but i think that means it is working okay.
Are there any system variables that need to be set with libusb?
Do i have to install usblib device as well as the filter?

did you put the nxt in firmware-mode _before_ you use lejosdl?
maybe i missunderstood your explanation..

you could post the output of libusb here, so that someone who´s able to understand it can have a look on it..

ps: its correct that the ticking is barely audible

libusb configs

Looks like you have it in device manager ok but try this:
Install both the 'filter' and the 'device'.
The trick is to make sure the lego nxt drivers are installed and the brick is
recognizable BEFORE installing libusb WIN32 filter! With nxt ONLY on usb (should be under device manager/LEGO devices), run TestLibUsb. If 03EB/6124 shows-up you're golden!

NOTE: May have to optionally edit or run wizard to create an nxt.inf file [see libusb instructions and groups] to point the DeviceManager/LEGO''NXT Firmware Update Mode/properties/driver details to include:
c:\windows\system32\drivers\fantom.sys and c:\windows\system32\drivers\libusb0.sys in the driver file(s) path.

Output of TestLibUsb should look like this for nxt:
DLL version:
Driver version:

bus/device idVendor/idProduct
bus-0/\\.\libusb0-0001--0x03eb-0x6124 03EB/6124
wTotalLength: 6
bNumInterfaces: 2
bConfigurationValue: 1
iConfiguration: 0
bmAttributes: c0h
MaxPower: 0
bInterfaceNumber: 0
bAlternateSetting: 0
bNumEndpoints: 1
bInterfaceClass: 2
Etc. etc...

Be sure nxt is in fw update mode and is recognized by devicemanger and TestLibUsb before running lejosdl.
